Their Messy Room is Driving Me Crazy!!!!

This is Rachel(2 yrs old) and Michelle's (4 yrs old) room. It always looks like this. I know I need to be practical in my expectations, but come on! Everything has it's place and they know right where that is, so what's up with throwing everything they own on the floor? Does anyone have some magical advice for me, not only on messy rooms, but daily jobs and responsibilities? What is working for you and your little ones?

Lana said...: As I am reading your woes regarding the messy bedroom at your house, I have my two girls in the playroom cleaning up - they overturned all the furniture and dumped out every container of toys. Matt had warned them earlier: "Is this a mess you want to make?" and they laughed "yes!" Now it is not so funny. I was doing the dishes and Michelle prances into the kitchen with a big smile on her face. I asked her what she was so happy about to which she replies: "I was just looking at myself in the mirror and I thought, wow that girl is pretty!"

Because of Dave's cunning remarks during opening arguments at trial this morning he got the case dismissed, because of that, one of the partners at his firm called him a dragon slayer. The girls thought that title was pretty cool. When Dave was tucking Michelle in, he told her goodnight and to keep being a good girl, to which she replied: Goodnight and keep slaying dragons!

Michelle was explaining to Dave why she was willing to be such a hard worker. She said that she wanted to help me out because I was pregnant and she knows that pregnant women have needs. Dave mentioned that even when I am not pregnant I still have needs. Michelle replied with: I have a need too, I want to marry a buff man.

We went to the Days of 47 rodeo for family night. It was a lot of fun after I cooled down from the fact the Michelle did not wear shoes and didn't realize it until we pulled into the Maverick Center!

While watching the cowboys ride the bucking broncos Maddie leaned over to me and said: "I wanna marry one of those!"

I knew right away this would be a problem, not the teacher, but the name. I whipped out the video camera and had Michelle in the spotlight, and I asked her what her teachers name was, low and behold it came out Mrs. Sh**, I could hardly hold the camera steady.

We had homemade pizza for dinner last night. I fed the girls and set aside some for Dave for when he got home from his meeting. Michelle came up to me and said: "Mom we ate all the pizza and left one piece for Dad." Apparently I wasn't clear that they weren't supposed to eat Dad's pizza, and I was upset cause now there wasn't any left for him. I asked Michelle what she was thinking, eating all that and she said, "I was thinking about....Pizza!"

I was helping Dave with his new gadget that helps keeps his knee iced, and it has a very heavy adapter that has to be plugged in, Michelle was helping me carry stuff and getting him all hooked up and she dropped the adapter on her foot.

Maddie said she was a quarter horse (which according to her is a racing horse, I wouldn't know.) Then Michelle pipes up and says, " I am a penny horse!"
